Tips For A Healthier Holiday Season

November 8, 2010

Hello FB and Twitter followers.
Here are some holiday tips for a healthier yet budget conscientious season
Daylight savings is here which means the holidays are just around the corner and so is the stress of planning family events, getting your home ready and managing expenses.
Try these simple tips to not only make this time less stressful – but to also be able to enjoy the sprit of the holiday season.
I hope this can help refresh your outlook on life as well.
1. Start early in your holiday planning.
2. Create boundaries as it pertains to activities, parties and events to attend during the holiday season. You can’t go everywhere. Do the same for purchases.
3. Set up a goal-oriented mindset. Establish the goal, write it down, work for it. Example: “write xmas cards this year and send by December 10th, be more eco-friendly”….
4. Stick to a spending holiday budget: Example: “will not spend more than $$ per gift”.
5. Be thankful” at Thanksgiving…. Adopt this thankful attitude and fill in the blank everyday with yourself and friends. Research shows by concentrating on what makes you happy, you can improve your mental and physical health.
6. Be organized and prepared – How many times have you said “I wish I had done this before”–write it down so you can just get it done.
7. Establish a to do list for your house chores:
Wash windows
Wash bed linens
Clean closets
Clean refrigerator and stove
Polish silver
Clean carpet
Have fireplace professionally cleaned etc…….
8. Simplify: You can hire a cleaning service to do most of these things. Be realistic, there is so much you can do!
9. Let go of some things, and be okay with everything just the way it is. Don’t be a perfectionist. Embrace life, your friends and smile. You will realize and feel lucky for all you have and where you are in your life right now.
10. Set goals for where you want to be in the New Year, such as “lead a healthier life, exercise, be more eco friendly”, get rid of toxic products in home”….
11. Decorate your home: your guests will not see if the windows were not cleaned, but will appreciate the welcoming feeling of your beautifully decorated home.

• Get baskets in different shapes and sizes, fill them with pinecones, apples, pomegranates and even with chocolates or nuts if you prefer.
• Fill crystal bowls with Pot Pourri.
• Set the table: create a centerpiece, it will enhance the beauty of your table.

Sophie redesigned my showroom from color choices to furniture styles and fabrics on March, 2010.
I am very impressed with Sophie’s creativity and her detailed work. She is a very gifted designer no doubt about that. The proof is there for all to see: my beautiful showroom at 200 Kansas Street in San Francisco Design District. Her clients are very impressed and happy with her work. Since I have partnered with Sophie, my business is great. I could not thank Sophie enough!

I am trying to embrace your idea of keeping everything simple this year. We are only putting up one tree instead of three!! Using lots of lights makes our beautiful chateau glow in the love of this season.
Can’t wait to share our home with family and friends over the next month.
